As part of ongoing restoration efforts, Conservation Halton has been actively stocking the Area 8 reservoir with native fish species—and it’s paying off! To help support this work, all fish caught during the derby must be released back into the reservoir. Thanks to these efforts, young anglers have the chance to reel in species like bass, brook trout, perch, sunfish, and bluegill.
If you’re bringing kids 8 and under, be sure to book the 9:00 am to 12:00 pm timeslot, as it’s the only one with access to fishing derby entry. You’re welcome to stay afterward for the awards and celebration! Please note that bait and tackle aren’t provided, so come prepared with your own gear and use barbless hooks. Dogs are welcome but must remain leashed at all times—small pups are allowed on rental boats, just keep an eye on your hooks!
